Brahmatal

6 Days

The Brahmatal Trek is a 24-kilometer journey through the Chamoli region of the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand, India. Starting at Lohajung, the trek takes hikers through deep forests of conifer, cedar, oak, and fir, offering stunning views of the Himalayan peaks like Mt. Trishul, Mt. Khamet, Mt. Nanda Ghunti, and Mt. Chowkhamba. The trek is moderately difficult and suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers, with a significant portion of the route remaining in wooded regions, reducing the risk of altitude sickness.

The trek is divided into six days, with the first day involving a drive to Lohajung. The trek then proceeds to the Gujreni campground, followed by the ascent to Brahmatal Lake, which is situated at an altitude of 3,400 meters. The trek offers a variety of flora and fauna, including oak forests, rhododendron blossoms, and wildlife such as the Himalayan Woodpecker, Asian Barred Owlet, and Blue-fronted Redstart.

Brahmatal Trek is particularly popular during the winter months, when the region is blanketed in snow, transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland. The trek also offers the opportunity to explore the local culture and traditions of the region. The trek is accessible from Rishikesh, with various tour operators offering packages that include accommodation, meals, and equipment
