Ali Bedni Bugyal is a popular high-altitude meadow trek located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. The trek offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks, lush green meadows, and sparkling streams. The journey begins from Lohajung, a small village at the base of the Himalayas, and takes trekkers through dense forests of oak and rhododendron. The highlight of the trek is the two high-altitude meadows, Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal, which are situated at an altitude of 11,686 feet and 11,980 feet, respectively.

 

Ali Bedni Bugyal is also known for its cultural experience, as the villages along the trek route are inhabited by the Bhotiya people, who are known for their unique customs and traditions. The Bhotiya people are a hardy mountain people who have lived in the region for centuries. They are skilled farmers and shepherds, and their way of life has remained largely unchanged for generations.

The trek to Ali Bedni Bugyal is of moderate difficulty, making it accessible to a wide range of trekkers, from beginners to experienced hikers. The trek covers a distance of approximately 13 kilometers and takes about five to six days to complete. Trekkers are advised to be physically fit and to have some prior trekking experience, as the terrain can be challenging in places

The trek is known for its unique flora and fauna, with a variety of rare and exotic plants and animals found in the meadows and surrounding forests. The meadows are also home to medicinal plants used by the local people to treat a variety of ailments. The forests around the meadows are home to a variety of animals, including deer, Himalayan black bears, and leopards.

Rishikesh to Lohajung

Lohajung to Tolpani
Trek from Lohajung to Tolpani Distance: 6.5km Trekking time: 4-5 hours
Day 3 :
Tolpani to Ali Bugyal

Day 4 :
Ali bugyal to Gehrolipatal/Bedni Bugyal
Climb up to Bedni Top and descend to Gairoli Pathal Distance: 7 km Trekking time: 5-6 hours

Gehrolipatal/Bedni Bugyal to Wan Village 9km
