The Chopta-Chandrashila Trek is a captivating journey, offering a perfect mixture of adventure and natural beauty. This moderate 6-kilometre trek starts from Chopta and culminates at the Chandrashila peak, standing tall at 12,100 feet. This trek is suitable for beginners and seasoned trekkers too. Along the way, trekkers get the views of the Himalayan ranges, including peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba. The trek is particularly renowned for its stunning sunrise vistas, snow-capped mountains in a mesmerizing palette of colors and of course famous as the highest lord Shiva Temple in the world.

The Chopta-Chandrashila Trek is a year-round delight, even for the winter months of January and February when heavy snowfall blankets the region. The trek is divided into two parts: the initial 4-kilometer stretch from Chopta to Tungnath, and the final 1.5-kilometer ascent to Chandrashila peak. Recently Govt. banned camping in this area to maintain the natural beauty and cleanliness of this place, but local homestay, camps and hotels are available in nearby areas.
